World Swords 1400-1945

Harvey Withers' World Swords 1400-1945, what a farce!

Who on earth would buy an antique swords reference book from someone like Harvey Withers? When Harvey gets things so very, very wrong. What is worse, even when his mistakes are pointed out to him, H Withers continues to misdescribe swords (get it wrong).

Case in point, Harvey Withers, author of World Swords 1400-1945, sells swords as Anglian Swords on eBay, the sick joke of the antiques market. Recently, Mr. Withers was selling a dodgy (most likely reproduction) Japanese army shin gunto as a naval kai gunto; that's right, Harvey Withers could not even tell the diference between an army and naval officer's sword! And we are not talking some obscure country of collector's area here, we are talking about mainstream WW2 Japanese swords; see Harvey Withers gets it wrong yet again.

UPDATE: Seen this new blog about Harvey Withers and his sword errors?!

But worse to come for anyone who bought or is considering buying World Swords 1400-1945, Harvey clearly was caught out selling a rotten egg by the buyer on eBay, as the buyer returned the item for a full refund (Harvey Withers claims the buyer never paid). But, after having at least 3 experts tell Harvey that the item was a shin gunto, and probably fake, did Harvey go ahead and change anything when he relisted the item? Yes, he stopped saying the sword was naval. But clueless bad sword punter and plagiarist author Havey Withers did not have the way of it all (knowledge) to change "kai gunto" (naval sword) to "shin gunto" (army sword). What a dummy, an arrogant dummy;

Notice also how Mr. Withers claims there is a fine hamon to the blade? Harvey, listen, hamon is not rust, it is the forging line / area near the edge of the blade! What a dummy! But probably not as big a dummy as anyone who buys World Swords 1400-1945.

You tell me, is Harvey a fake or a fraud? An idiot or a thief? Would you buy a sword from Harvey Withers now? And for that matter, who would be stupid enough to buy a so-called antique swords reference book from a man who does not know and will not accept the difference between a naval and army officer's sword?!

Is this why a certain Harvey Withers is Wanted by the police? That is our Harvey, isn't it?!

World Swords 1400-1945 by Harvey Withers anyone? I say, "Save your money".
